One in Four Asks You to Help Fight Mental Illness
One in four people in America experiences mental illness in a given year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI also reports that half of all chronic mental illness begins by age 14, and three-quarters by age 24. Mental illness touches the lives of many – children, adolescents, adults and seniors – affecting people regardless of age, race, or religion.
The biggest barrier to people seeking and getting help is the stigma attached to mental illness. To help reach solutions, “One in Four,” a mental health awareness campaign, is being launched by multiple organizations in and near DuPage County. The campaign’s goals are to bring mental health awareness to communities, break down the social stigma that prevents individuals from seeking help or discussing mental illness, and promote behavior that will increase overall wellness.
To help the campaign measure its impact, please participate in this survey, which will be posted through March 15.
