Metro Rallies for Mental Health
More than 40 clients and staff from Metropolitan Family Services’ Southeast Chicago Center and agency headquarters showed their support for mental health funding at a rally held Wed. 5/13 at Chicago’s Thompson Center. Many people and organizations were present, and various speakers emphasized the vital need to preserve funding. Several of our clients were interviewed by media including the Chicago Reporter, Streetwise and the Medill News Service, and Metro featured the event on our Facebook and Twitter pages (see 5/13 posts).
The rally was part of a huge statewide advocacy push involving many organizations and thousands of people urging lawmakers to pass a fair state budget that chooses adequate revenue to protect families.
If you’d like to help preserve funding contact your lawmakers and tell them to protect families by ensuring adequate revenue! Urge them to preserve essentials like psychiatric care, medication funding and after-school programs, which are among areas at risk. Legislator contact information is here.
