LGBTQ Cultural Competency trainings educate staff agency-wide
Metropolitan staff across the agency has been participating in “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) and Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) Communities Foundations of Care” trainings, provided by Howard Brown Health.
The goal of this foundational 101 is to provide essential information about the LGBTQ/TGNC community with emphasis on terminology, health disparities, best practices and standards of care.
Training employees in LGBTQ/TGNC concerns not only ensures that participants receive equitable and culturally competent care, it also helps to improve the organization culture and response towards all LGBTQ/TGNC people, whether participants or employees.
Below, Howard Brown Health’s Ray Marie speaks with our Calumet Center staff alongside Metropolitan Calumet Executive Director Audrena Spence at a recent staff meeting.
