Illinois Worst in US for Quality Child Care Access
Rule changes drastically impacting child care access for thousands of parents and state government dysfunction continue to take a heavy toll. Illinois now comes in last place when it comes to working families’ access to child care, according to a new report released by the National Women’s Law Center. As the report notes, in 2015, Illinois was the only state to freeze child care intake, turning away most families with incomes above 50 percent of the federal poverty level.
