The Treasure House Has Everything for Your Holiday Celebration
Times are tough; the economy is tight. But a quick visit to the Treasure House Resale and Consignment Shop in Glen Ellyn can mean your holiday celebrations will be nothing short of grand.
Set your holiday table with lavish treasures of fine china, authentic sterling silver and sparkling crystal—all at bargain prices. Nothing to wear? Check out the huge selection of clothing, from everyday attire to dresses for social occasions and even wedding dresses, the Treasure House has it all. And while you’re there, you’re sure to find plenty one-of-a-kind gifts for the special people on your holiday shopping list.
Proceeds from the Treasure House benefit Metropolitan Family Services DuPage, which last year helped more than 8,000 low-income DuPage residents with counseling, parenting, mental health, housing assistance, senior programs and family support services. The Treasure House donates approximately $150,000 annually to Metropolitan Family Services DuPage.
Started in the late 1950s by a small group of women from Glen Ellyn and Wheaton who had a strong a desire to help less fortunate families in the area, the Treasure House remains a vibrant business today.
Unlike other area thrift stores that are experiencing a decline in donations in this economy, the Treasure House is bursting with items from small antiques to exquisite furniture pieces. “We’re doing a bustling business,” says shop manager Tillie Thorpe, “especially with the holidays approaching.”
“And shopping at thrift stores like the Treasure House is a great way to ‘give green’ this holiday season by providing previously owned items renewed life as holiday gifts, hostess gifts and home decorations.”
