Empowerment

The Legal Aid Society provides a wide range of essential legal services to low-income families who, without us, would have no other access to legal help. We offer legal assistance for cases of domestic violence, family and elder law, and housing and consumer issues. We also hold workshops to educate people of their rights in these areas. All Legal Aid Society clients have access to the full scope of counseling and other services offered by Metropolitan Family Services.

Resident Service Coordination Program for CHA Senior Buildings

The Resident Service Coordination Program focuses on helping Chicago Housing Authority seniors across 54 senior buildings maintain and increase their quality of life. Resident Service Coordinators (RSCs) foster an environment conducive to aging in place that is based on knowledge of best practices and welcoming to active seniors as well as those needing more support. The RSCs coordinate and link seniors to services that provide the support necessary for them to remain independent and in their home for as long as possible.

Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Program

The Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange (SVSE) program provides a safe place for supervised visitations and safe exchanges for children of parents who have experienced domestic violence. The program allows children to have the opportunity to spend time with the visiting parent without compromising the safety of the residential parent. Our experienced team works one-on-one with parents to facilitate visitations and exchanges. We help safeguard clients by providing seperate entrances, waiting rooms, and staggered arrival and departure times. Parents must be court-ordered to supervised visitations/safe exchanges. Additional criteria apply. Both parents must complete the enrollment process.
