Metropolitan is Getting the Word Out about Mental Health
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, May 12-18. Adult Mental Health Supervisors from the Metropolitan Family Services Southwest Center will be conducting outreach events at various locations around the Palos area to let the community know about the mental health services available through Metropolitan. “It’s important for us to increase awareness about mental illness to both educate people about issues and treatments, and to reduce the stigma attached to the disease,” says Jean Xoubi, LCPC, Program Manager. “We will have an information booth set up at various locations to talk with local residents and offer valuable information about mental illness and the services we provide that can help. The more we can promote an understanding of mental illness, the more people we will be able to reach with assistance.”
