Metropolitan Family Services Welcomes New Governing Board Members
CHICAGO (July 17, 2023) – Metropolitan Family Services is honored to welcome three new members to its Governing Board. Collectively these leaders bring a variety of experience representing the fields of finance, law enforcement and business operations.
Jeffrey Dorsey is Chief Operating Officer of McClatchy, a Sacramento CA.-based publishing company operating several newspapers and digital-based assets. Dorsey started his employment with McClatchy in September 2020 serving as SVP of Transformation. He has nearly 20 years of media-related business experience, having served in numerous management roles with Tribune Publishing Company, as well as Tribune Company, including Chief Information Officer (CIO) & SVP at Tribune Publishing Company from 2015 to 2017. In addition to his corporate experiences, Dorsey has been involved in several entrepreneurial ventures. He earned his MBA from Northwestern University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University. He also is a Certified Internal Auditor. Dorsey and his family reside in Chicago’s western suburbs.
Lavelle Schaffer is an Officer of the Chicago Police Department, serving since December 2019. In addition to his current role, his professional experiences include prior work in the transportation, trucking and railroad industries and in call center customer service. A graduate of Chicago’s Kennedy-King College, Schaffer is the father of two and was honored by Metropolitan’s Young Fathers program as its “Father of the Year” in 2016. He resides in Chicago.
Peter Lantero is Executive Vice President & Head of the Institutional Investors Group, Corporate & Institutional Services, at Northern Trust. He is responsible for managing asset owner clients across North America as well as commercial banking, treasury management, and benefit payment products. Serving in this role since 2018, Lantero oversees a team of 300 relationship professionals administering 1,300 clients with ~$2.7 trillion in assets under custody and $400 million in assets under management. Lantero has held a variety of leadership roles at Northern Trust over more than two decades, and he served in senior roles at other financial firms as well. He earned his MBA from the University of Chicago and his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. He resides in Chicago’s western suburbs.
