Metropolitan Calumet’s Zoom Bingo helps seniors connect with staff and each other
The “Bingo!” sounded a little different through a Zoom meeting, but the seniors participating in Metropolitan Calumet’s virtual Bingo felt the excitement all the same.
“The seniors were so excited to join Bingo and see each other,” shares Program Supervisor Carrie Pullie. “They had such a good time! We set the ground rules and started up the first game. When the first senior called out “Bingo” they held up the game board to show they won.”
Staff in the FamilyWORKS program at our Altgeld Gardens location dropped off the Bingo boards for the participants ahead of time, and delivered the prizes – much-needed cleaning products and toiletries – afterward. All our seniors are already looking forward to next time.
When our partners at Comcast heard about our Altgeld adventures in Zoom Bingo, they created some cards for our seniors and donated them – about 7,500. We won’t be running out of Bingo cards for a long time!
Seniors at Altgeld Gardens aren’t letting the Stay-at-Home order keep them from their weekly bingo games, thanks to the creative thinking of CHA service provider @MetroFamChicago!
