Make a Resolution that Makes a Difference
January is National Mentoring Month
Instead of resolving to give something up this year, resolve to give something back. Volunteer to be a mentor. You don’t need special skills. You just have to want to listen, be a friend and help guide and encourage a young person. Mentoring relationships have been shown to improve the self-esteem, behavior, and academic performance of youth. Boys, girls, teens, young moms and dads, have all benefitted from Metropolitan’s 30+ years in mentoring, and Metropolitan’s MetroMentors program, offered by Metropolitan’s DuPage Center, welcomes volunteers; click here to find out more.
Please consider becoming a mentor. We hear time and again how the friendships and personal connections made through mentoring leave such a positive, lifelong impression on both mentors and young people. You can make a difference. Find out how. Contact Marsha Ndoko, MetroMentors Coordinator, at ndokom@metrofamily.org or 630-784-4836.
