Illinois General Assembly Members Participate in SW Forum
Metropolitan Family Services, Greater Southwest Development Corporation, Holy Cross Hospital, Southwest Youth Collaborative, Southwest Organizing Project, Gage Park/Chicago Lawn Safety Networks Coalition and the 8th District Community Policing Office will host the Southwest Chicago 2010 Legislative Forum, taking place Wednesday, January 20, 2010, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Hospital, Chicago Ill.
Confirmed to attend, Senators Jackie Collins, Mattie Hunter, and Antonio Munoz and House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie will join 150 community leaders and residents from Southwest Chicago communities, to discuss how the reduction of Illinois state funding is affecting healthcare, safety and human services programs within their community. Community leaders and residents will communicate their support for a proposed tax increase as well as address issues concerning the distribution of the proceeds. The forum will also provide a speaking platform for residents who utilize these programs and how the state budget cuts have affected their lives and well being.
