Howard Area Community Center is now the Howard & Evanston Community Center!

We at the Howard Area Community Center are pleased to share that as of July 1, 2023, we have a new name – the Centro Comunitario Howard & Evanston.

We are now officially part of Metropolitan Family Services (MFS), one of Chicago’s first and best-respected human services organizations. MFS has been empowering Chicago-area families and communities for more than 166 years.

We at Howard Area made this change to help ensure our future, strengthen our ability to provide better services and outcomes for the Rogers Park community, and expand our services to new communities. This was a transition that we at Howard Area carefully considered and sought out. In fact, we have been working with MFS since 2021 to make this possible.

Our name change reflects community data showing we have strong connections already in place with Evanston residents. In addition, our new name reflects our plan to grow where we are needed in Evanston and forge new, effective partnerships with Evanston government, schools and service groups.

Please know that the important services we at Howard Area provided for children, youth and adults will continue. We will keep providing the tools and resources to empower individuals, enabling their independence and offering a better chance for a brighter tomorrow.

We and MFS share a passion for “Mpowering” those we serve. Together we look forward to doing that on an even greater level for residents of the Greater Rogers Park Area and Evanston today and into the future.
