Brighten the Holiday Season for Families in Need
Though this year has been challenging for many it has been especially difficult for families in need. To help make the holidays happier for low-income children, families and seniors, donations are being requested through December 31, 2009 for Metropolitan Family Services’ “Holiday Gift Program,” which has been helping families throughout Chicago and area suburbs since 1983.
This year financial donations only are being requested so that gift cards to grocery and “big box” stores can be purchased for families and seniors, enabling them to buy food for their holiday meals and gifts for their children and grandchildren.
Every donation helps make it possible for a family with few resources to celebrate its holiday traditions … to strengthen the bond between a parent and child by allowing the parent to purchase the special toy that child is dreaming of … to deepen ties to other family members because for once, they can host the holiday meal.
Help make the holidays more than just a time when some celebrate and some simply cannot. Each contribution will give a holiday celebration – and hope – to those especially affected by these tough financial times … families who come to Metropolitan facing severe economic hardship, abuse and mental illness.
