6/19 Workshop for Mental Health Professionals
A workshop for professionals who run groups for clients with mental illness will be held Fri., June 19, 2015 at Metropolitan Southwest Center, 10537 S. Roberts Road, Palos Hills, Ill. CEUs will be available.
Leading the workshops is Shirley R. Simon, MSW, LCSW, ACSW, and Associate Professor, School of Social Work, Loyola University Chicago. She is also an editor of the book “Group Work Honoring Our Roots, Nurturing Our Growth.”
The workshop will include two sessions, the first taking place from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and the second from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.:
- Session 1/Beginners is for staff who have never done groups or have limited experience with groups. Topics include stages of group development, process vs. content, and developing group cohesion.
- Session 2/Advanced is for experienced group treatment providers. Topics include client engagement and management, and therapeutic factors.
