About the Center

At Metropolitan's Midway Center, families and parents find strength and caring counsel to overcome incredible challenges. Children thrive and learn in safe environments like our full-day Midway Children's Center and youth center. Serving families and individuals of all ages since 1988.

Executive Director

Laurie Sedio, MA, Social Services Administration

In 2007, Laurie Sedio took on the role of Executive Director for our Midway Center while continuing her responsibilities as Co-Executive Director for our Southeast Chicago Center. For more than 20 years, she's played a pivotal role in assessing community needs, building support for vital services and creating and implementing innovative violence prevention and family strengthening programs in Chicago's south side neighborhoods.

Fast Facts  

The area surrounding Chicago's historic Midway airport faces a number of challenges, including domestic violence, high crime, teen pregnancy, limited childcare options for working poor families, poor school performance and, for the large number of immigrant families in the area, limited access to economic and health care services.
